 Switcher Now

August 24, 2026

You signed up. You haven't gone live yet. Maybe there's a race, a service, or a game on the calendar and the closer it gets, the more it feels like something you'll figure out on the day — or something that'll quietly slip.

Here's the thing nobody tells you before a first stream: you don't need an hour of setup. You need about ten minutes of it, done in the right order. The other fifty minutes are just you, calm, watching people arrive.

If you want someone to walk through this with you first, [book a rehearsal](https://live.switchernow.com/login?mode=signup) — it takes fifteen minutes and it's the same fifteen minutes below, just with a person on the other end.

## T-minus 60: Confirm the phones

Not "get equipment." Confirm the phones. Switcher Now runs on the phones already at your event — yours, a parent's, a coach's. Nothing to buy, nothing to charge that isn't already charging. At this point, all you're doing is making sure the people holding those phones know they're holding them. Send one text: "You're on camera 2 today, starts around 3."

That's the whole step.

## T-minus 30: Open the webpage, don't overthink it

Log in to live.switchernow.com on the main phone. This is where a lot of people stall out — not because it's hard, but because they expect it to be. It isn't. You'll see a QR code. That code is how every other phone joins as a camera. Nothing to install on those other phones. No accounts to create for volunteers. They scan, they're in.

If this is the first time you're doing it, do it now instead of at T-minus 5. Not because it's difficult, but because doing it once, before anyone's watching, is what turns "I hope this works" into "I already know this works."

## T-minus 15: Get the other cameras online

Have whoever's holding a phone scan the QR code. Watch their feed show up on your screen. This is the moment that matters most, because it's the moment you actually see multi-camera streaming happen in front of you instead of hearing it described. Once two or three phones are connected, you're not hoping the system works. You've already seen it work.

## T-minus 5: Send the link

This is the step people forget to plan for and then panic about at the last second. Don't. The private watch link is generated automatically the moment you're set up. Send it now, before you're distracted by the event itself — a text to the group chat, a post wherever your community already gathers. The people watching don't need an app, an account, or a login. They open a link and they're watching.

## Go live

Press the button. That's the entire remaining step. Your audience controls what they watch from there — Switcher Now lets viewers pick which camera angle they want, so you're not standing behind a switcher board making editorial decisions in real time. You're just running the event. The stream is running itself.

## The part that actually needs saying

None of this requires a producer. None of it requires you to have done this before. The sixty minutes above aren't sixty minutes of technical setup — they're fifty minutes of normal event-day prep and ten minutes of a system that was built to take less time than it takes to read this post.

The people who've done this once don't describe it as hard the second time. They describe it as the thing they were more worried about than they needed to be. If you want to find that out before event day instead of during it, that's what a rehearsal is for.

## Common questions before your first stream

**Do I need to rehearse before the real event?** Not required, but it's the fastest way to turn "I hope this works" into "I already know this works." A rehearsal is a real run-through with no audience — same steps, no stakes.

**What if a phone battery dies mid-stream?** Swap it. Any phone can rejoin as a camera by scanning the same QR code again. The stream doesn't stop for one camera going down.

**Do the people watching need to download anything?** No. The private watch link opens in any browser, on any phone or computer. No app, no account, no password.

**What happens if my phone screen locks or I close the tab while live?** The stream ends. Keep the phone awake and the tab open for the whole event — this is the one step that's easy to forget and the one that actually matters.
